Woolmore Primary School

10 children from Years 3-6 and their parents took part in Banana Bytes. They learnt how to make healthy dips, breads and chutneys for snacks and lunch boxes withTasneem, Parent Co-ordinator. 

Celebrity Chef, Rakesh Ravindran Nair from The Cinnamon Club made a special visit to Woolmore School.  He talked about his work as a chef and demonstrated making his delicious coriander dip and chickpea bread in the school kitchen. Other visitors to the project included Dr Husain from Chrisp Street Health Centre, Laura from Healthy Lives Team and the Limehouse Health Trainers. 

The children made the Hidden Sugars video revealing the high sugar content in popular ‘healthy’ foods. They chose Ribena, Kelloggs Healthy Cocoa Pops, Tesco Value Apple Juice, Fruit Yoghurt and Lucozade Sports Drink. The  project also focused on ICT and Presentation skills, parents and children making a PowerPoint presentation to document the project and share what they had learnt with other families. The PowerPoint presentation and video were shown to the whole school and later at an event in Chrisp Street Market and other venues.  Their video was shown at four Idea Stores (libraries) and on Bangla TV.
