Children's ICT skills can increase by 80%. In three pilot studies girls in Years 3 and 4 increased their ICT skills by more than five times. We observed that some girls of that age are much less confident and able in ICT than boys of the same age. But they quickly catch up!
A Year 3 class teacher wrote:
“It was interesting to find out the gap in ICT skills between the girls and the boys and it was encouraging to see how quickly that gap was closed in the space of three sessions with ArtSpokes. The girls caught on quickly to enable them to reach the same skill level as the boys and the boys skills saw marked improvements and a greater efficiency to their work. The children would be happy to work with the project again!”
